Patient groups

Inpatient rehabilitation for patients with acquired brain injury, encompassing stroke, traumatic and anoxic brain injuries, brain infections and brain tumors. Outpatient assessment and follow-up is provided for individuals with acquired brain injury, cerebral palsy, concussion, and bodily distress syndrome.  

Organization

Hammel Neurocenter have seven wards located in Hammel, two wards in Skive and one ward in Lemvig. These wards are organized in four specialized subunits: a unit specialized in early rehabilitation for patients emerging from a minimal conscious state, a unit specialized in somatosensory deficits, a unit specialized in cognitive deficits, and a unit specialized in rehabilitation of children and adolescents.  

Rehabilitation Medicine, Skåne University Hospital

Patient groups

Adults with acquired spinal cord injury, brain injury, or complex impairments caused by other medical conditions in the nervous system, cardiovascular -, respiratory- or musculoskeletal system, leading to activity limitations and participation restrictions. 

Organization

Inpatient rehabilitation programs targeting acquired spinal cord injuries (since 2023 national highly specialized), brain injuries including stroke, and complex conditions.  

Outpatient rehabilitation programs after spinal cord injury, brain injury including stroke, chronic neurological diseases, late effects of polio and multiple functional disabilities. 

Specialist home rehabilitation acute-subacute mainly after stroke (EarlySupportedDischarge-team). Multiprofessional research, and healthcare education in different programs at Lund University and Malmö University, is conducted. 

Rehabilitation medicine, Sahlgrenska University Hospital, Göteborg, Sweden

Patient groups

Adults with acquired brain injury (stroke, trauma, anoxia, infections, tumors) and spasticity. Patients with acquired spinal cord injury and postpolio.

Organization

Two inpatient wards, 10 resp. 17 beds. National highly specialized inpatient program for acute spinal cord injuries, including high injuries (C0-C4) with continued need for respiratory support/ventilator and children with spinal cord injury in collaboration with the Children’s Hospital. Subacute rehabilitation after brain or spinal injury. Programs for day rehabilitation and receptions, including a National highly specialized program for late effects after polio. The clinic has a research and development unit. 

Norrlands university hospital, Umeå, Sweden

Patient groups

Highly specialized rehabilitation for adults with spinal cord injury (SCI), along with multidisciplinary rehabilitation following brain injuries or complex function and activity impairment caused by disease or damage to the nervous system. 

Organization

Inpatient rehabilitation ward (12 beds) for primary rehabilitation of SCI and brain injuries. Outpatient follow-up for SCI and brain injuries. 

Inpatient rehabilitation ward (5 beds) and outpatient rehabilitation ward for secondary multiprofessional rehabilitation after stroke, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, neurological complex conditions, postpolio condition, functional neurological disease (FND) and multifunction disability. 

Outpatient treatment of condition with spasticity. 

Sunnaas Rehabilitation Hospital, Nesodden, Norway

Patient groups

Our areas of expertise include spinal cord injuries, severe multitrauma, traumatic brain injuries, stroke, cognitive challenges, severe burn injuries, neurological illnesses and rare congenital disorders. The hospital holds national responsibilities for rare congenital disorders and locked-in syndrome.

Organization

Sunnaas Rehabilitation Hospital is the largest rehabilitation hospital in Norway and offers highly specialized multidisciplinary rehabilitation to patients with complex functional impairment following illness or injury. The hospital’s full continuum of care focuses on community re-entry. Sunnaas Rehabilitation Hospital has nine clinical departments which offers inpatient (149 beds) and outpatient rehabilitation for adults and children. Active research work is organized in Center for Research and Innovation.

Oslo university hospital, Ullevål, Oslo, Norway

Patient groups

We offer specialized sub-acute rehabilitation for patients recovering from traumatic brain injuries, subarachnoid hemorrhages, and strokes. When capacity allows, we also extend our rehabilitation programs to patients with spinal cord injuries, brain tumors, other acute neurological conditions and patients experienced multiple traumas.

Organization

Oslo University Hospital, the largest hospital in Scandinavia, provides over 1.2 million patient treatments annually, and is the largest trauma hospital in Norway. The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is part of the Division of Clinical Neuroscience and offers both inpatient and outpatient services, delivering multidisciplinary rehabilitation to patients from the southeast of Norway.

Bodil Eskesen Centre, Copenhagen University Hospital - Rigshospital, Glostrup, Denmark
